Abstract

The variationally determined correlated baryon cluster wavefunction is used to determine the Delta Delta isobaric and hidden colour components of the deuteron wavefunction. The calculated isobaric spectroscopic factor is 0.32% as compared with its measured value 0.4-0.9%. This close agreement indicates that the nucleon-nucleon short-range repulsion in the deuteron is correctly incorporated by the correlated three-quark baryon wavefunction.
