Abstract
The general spin-isospin dependence of the nucleon partial decay amplitude and the corresponding width are derived. The effects of spin-flavour SU(6) symmetry breaking and the quark correlations on the nucleon lifetime are studied. Keeping the same baryon spectroscopic data, the calculated proton decay partial lifetime varies from T(p to e+ pi 0)=1.14 to 2.02*1031 yr for Mx=4.2*1014 GeV.
