Abstract

The general expression for the angular distribution of protons derived from Sawicki's transition matrix elements is given. The angular distribution of protons in the reaction Cl35(d, p)Cl36 is calculated assuming the strong coupling unified model. Calculation of the integral in the stripping formula takes into account the effect of the deformed surface of the nucleus. The value of the deformation obtained from fitting the observed angular distribution is found to agree roughly with those derived from the quadrupole and magnetic moments.
