Abstract

The binding energies of open-shell nuclei (2s-1d) are calculated from the approximate Hartree-Fock solution along with the use of the projection technique, both for the Yale potential and for a nonlocal separable potential. It is observed that though the Yale potential gives better binding than the nonlocal potential does, it still gives lower values than the experimental numbers, as was the case for the O16 nucleus.
