Abstract

Elimination of trichloromethyl radical from the molecular ion is the abundant fragment in the mass spectra of most of the thirteen substituted trichloracetanilides studied. Unusual ortho effects of —OCH3, —NO2 and —COOH groups are noticed only after the initial ejection of trichloromethyl radical from the molecular ion.
