Abstract

The minimum volume designs of cylindrically orthotropic annular plates with simply supported edges are obtained through a finite element formulation in conjunction with the optimality criterion approach. The plates are subjected to constraints on their fundamental frequency parameters. Results for the annular plates with varying orthotropic material properties and radii ratios are presented in the form of nondimensional optimum thicknesses and nondimensional optimum volumes.
