Abstract

Local measurements have been made of the heat transfer from a horizontal circular cylinder to air in cross flow in forced convection and mixed convection. The studies have been conducted with the constant heat flux boundary condition at low Reynolds numbers ranging from 500 to 4700 and at modified Grashof numbers ranging from 0.8 × 107 to 3.3 × 107. The effect of varying the free stream turbulence intensity from about 0.5 to 20% has also been studied.
