Abstract

A high precision triangular plate bending element for the analysis of thick plates is developed in thin paper. The element has three nodes and 12 degrees of freedom per node. Explicit expressions for stiffness coefficients are derived. The superiority of the element is demonstrated by the accuracy of the results obtained by applying it to some typical thick plate problems.
