Abstract

An exhaustive set of numerical results covering buckling loads and frequency parameter values obtained by a finite element method is provided for thin and moderately thick annular plates subjected to initial stresses. Annular plates of various radii ratios and thicknesses are considered with different combinations of boundary conditions at the inner and outer edges of the plates. As limiting cases, results for thin and moderately thick circular plates with simply supported and clamped boundary conditions at the edge are also given. Frequency parameters for initially stressed plates are evaluated with various percentages of corresponding buckling loads applied as in-plane compressive loads at the outer edges of the plates. A discussion of the numerical results is included after a brief description of the finite element formulation.
