Abstract

The stability or a hinged column with one end elastically restrained to move axially and subjected to intermediate load was studied using finite elements. The study revealed that a column with load points above its middle would buckle with or without load reversal depending on the axial restraint, while for loads below the middle column it would buckle without load reversal irrespective of the axial restraint.
