Abstract

Large amplitude asymmetric vibrations of shells of revolution are analysed in this paper by using a finite element method. Sanders' non-linear strain displacement relations are used to derive the element stiffness matrix. In the derivation of the mass matrix, the effect of in-plane inertia is included. Three numerical examples are presented to show the reliability and effectiveness of the present finite element formulation.
