Abstract

The K conversion coefficients of 2+ → 0+ transitions in some deformed even nuclei have been determined with the help of β-γ, χ-γ and γ-γ coincidence measurements. All possible uncertainties in these measurements have been minimised and properly evaluated. The aK values for 2+ → 0+ transitions in Er166, Yb170, Hf176, W186, Os186, Os188 and Dy160 are found to be 1.67, 1.31, 1.10, 0.55, 0.42, 0.34 and 1.52, respectively. These values are in agreement with the theoretical ones within an experimental error of about 6%. Large deviations of the order of 15 to 20% as reported by earlier workers are not observed.
