Abstract

The second harmonic resonance of weakly nonlinear progressive waves in a self gravitating fluid column in the presence of a uniform axial magnetic field is examined. The dynamical equations governing the second harmonic resonance are obtained. In the steady state, it is observed that general motion consists of both amplitude and phase modulated waves. The pure amplitude modulated waves and the pure phase modulated waves are obtained only as special cases.
