Abstract

A notable feature of the male gametes is the presence in them of proteins that are "foreign" to the immune system of both male and the female. It is these that are considered responsible for the elicitation of auto- and iso-antibodies in certain natural infertility cases. By virtue of their dual application in both sexes the sperm antigens have interesting potential for exploration as possible agents for control of fertility.
