Abstract

The various flow characteristics of accelerating and decelerating flows over a plate with or without suction have been studied using fourth degree velocity profiles satisfying one or two boundary conditions on the plate. In the case of lineary varying outer velocity distribution, the equation determining the boundary layer thickness has been integrated in the closed form for various values of suction parameter. The results for no suction have been compared with those of Gortler.
