Abstract

Protein precipitation is a process commonly observed during bacterial expression of heterologous proteins. The high concentration of currently used solubilizing agents limits the scope of purification procedures. Protein solubilizers acting at very low concentrations will allow function-based purification protocols. Such applications are possible where sequence dependent protein-protein interactions occur. Oligomerization and higher order structure formation by proteins are examples where the interface peptide sequences are inhibitors of such interactions. In this study, we show that a partial sequence of Alzheimer's amyloid beta (Aβ) peptide can inhibit the aggregation. This enables the purification of protein containing Aβ sequence.
