Abstract

Template synthesis of four new cryptands has been described. In each of these cryptands, there are three distinct compartments. These cryptands readily make mono- as well as binuclear cryptates with transition metal ions like copper, nickel etc. The dicopper cryptates reduce in solution to the Cu(I) state.
