Abstract

This paper presents the bearing center locus of the big-end bearing of an internal combustion engine. The fluid film pressures are obtained by solving the Navier-Stokes equations by the finite element method using Galerkin's technique and the trajectory of the bearing center has been obtained by numerically integrating the equations of motion. The values obtained for the minimum film thickness have been compared with existing results.
