Abstract

Trimethylplatinum(IV) iodide reacts with ditellurides, R2Te2, to give bimetallic complexes of the type [(PtIMe3)2(Te2R2)] (R=Me, p-MeOC6H4, p-EtOC6H4). Ditelluroethers, RTeCH2TeR, react with trimethylplatinum(IV) iodide to give the bimetallic complex [(PtIMe3)2RTeCH2TeR)] (R=p-MeOC6H4) or the mononuclear complexes, [(PtIMe3)(RTeCH2TeR)] and [(PtIMe3)(RTeCH2TeR)2] (R=C6H5). The crystal structure of [(PtIMe3)2(p-MeOC6H4Te)2] has been determined.
