Abstract

The results of 151Eu Mössbauer and magnetic susceptibility (χ) studies over the temperature range 4.2-300 K are presented. χ studies show that this compound orders magnetically at 15 K. The Mössbauer spectrum as a function of temperature indicate that Eu ions are essentially divalent. The spectra exhibit an unusually large temperature dependent line broadening. We find that no single simple mechanism seems sufficient to explain this broadening.
