Abstract

We report here the synthesis of a new compound, Gd2PdGe3, crystallizing in a AlB2-derived hexagonal crystal structure and the results of electrical resistivity, magnetoresistance, heat-capacity and magnetic susceptibility measurements down to 2 K. The results suggest that this alloy orders antiferromagnetically below 10 K, exhibiting significant negative magnetoresistance over a wide temperature range above 10 K.
