Abstract

Liquid extraction accompanied by fast pseudo-first order reaction was used to evaluate the values of the effective area of the interface between the two liquids. It was found that the alkaline hydrolysis of formate esters could be conveniently employed for this purpose. Stirred cells were used to obtain the values of the physico-chemical data for the solutions used in this work. Values of the effective interfacial area in a spray column at different flow rates of dispersed phase were obtained.
