Abstract

The CeIr2B2 compound, reported to crystallize in a CaRh2B2-type orthorhombic structure, is investigated by magnetic susceptibility, heat capacity, electrical resistivity, and magnetoresistance measurements. The results establish that this compound orders ferromagnetically at 6 K, without any apparent signatures due to the Kondo effect at low temperatures.
