Abstract

The individual s electron densities at the nuclear sites of Fe3+, Ru3+, and Os3+ ions under the influence of a spherically symmetric electrostatic potential in ionic solids have been calculated and compared with the free-ion values using the non-relativistic Hartree-Fock-Slater wavefunctions. It is found that the inner s shell densities increase and the outermost s shell densities decrease relative to the free-ion values in all the three cases considered.
