Abstract

X-ray photoelectron spectra show changes in the valence bands accompanying the temperature-dependent semiconductor-metal transition in La2NiO4 and the localized-itinerant electron transitions in LaCoO3 and YCoO3. In La1−xSrxCoO3 the valence band changes with the variable x in a manner reflecting the known changes in electronic properties.
