Abstract
Manganese (II) acetate catalysed reactions of α,β-unsaturated aromatic carboxylic acids 1 with NBS (1 and 2 eq.) in MeCN/water afford haloalkenes 2 and α-(dibromomethyl)benzenemethanols 3 respectively.
