Abstract
Reductive homocoupling of alkyl and aryl halides in presence of indium metal in DMF produces bialkyls and biaryls in good yields. 1,4-Diketones are obtained from α -iodoketones. Homocoupling of alkyl and aryl iodides to the corresponding dialkyls and diaryls has been achieved through an indium mediated reaction. α-Iodoketones produce 1,4-diketones. 2R-I →In/DMF R-R RCOCH2I →In/DMF RCOCH2CH2COR R = alkyl, aryl.
