Abstract

The paper deals with the characterisation of solution annealed VT14 titanium alloy (Ti-4.5Al-3Mo-1V) using various ultrasonic parameters. The measurement of velocity ratio does not require the thickness measurement and hence has practical advantages. A new parameter identified by the authors, time domain peak ratio (TPR), has been used for studying frequency dependent attenuation. The combination of these two parameters has been found to be of assistance in unambiguous characterisation of microstructure in solution annealed VT14 alloy.
