Abstract

A Raman spectroscopic study of a zone center optical phonon of Bi12GeO20 which exhibits simultaneously a LO-TO and a linear wave-vector dependent splitting is presented. These are separated experimentally by studying the Raman line with a piezoelectrically scanned Fabry-Perot interferometer and the sample with and without an applied uniaxial stress.
