Abstract

Raman scattering experiments on metallic La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 have been carried out using different excitation wavelengths as a function of temperature from 15 K to 300 K. Our data suggest a Raman mode attributed to electronic excitations centered at 2100 cm−1 whose intensity decreases with increasing temperature. If the Raman mode is attributed to single-particle excitation associated with the fluctuations of the mass tensor, the decreased intensity would then imply a reduction in the density of states at the Fermi energy with increasing temperature.
