Abstract

Within the framework of the W̅3 symmetry we have shown that the conservation of axial vector current implies no renormalization, and that if the symmetry is broken in any arbitrary manner, the renormalization effects on both vector and axial vector currents are of second order in the symmetry breaking parameter. The results are generalized to any symmetry group for which the generators are conserved (vector or axial-vector) "charges".
