Abstract

A laser signal propagating in an optical fiber is amplified by the evanescent field interacting with the excited Rhodamine 6G solution surrounding the fiber. A small signal gain of 430 at 600nm has been measured in a long fiber with a 2cm long fiber optic amplifier.
