Abstract

New sodium super ionic conductor (NASICON) type niobium aluminum phosphates of composition Cu0.5NbAlP3O12 (CNP) and HNbAlP3O12 (HNP) are prepared. The compounds are isomorphous with NbTiP3O12 and unit cell parameters are evaluated. Copper and hydrogen occupy the channels. Reduction of CNP gives rise to HNP. electron spin resonance (ESR) and photo acoustic (PA) spectral data are consistent with elongated octahedral configuration around Cu2+ ion.
