Abstract

(RS)-Abscisic acid crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/c with a=15.30(1), b=6.87(1), c=13.97(1)Å, β=94.5(1)°, Z=4. The structure was solved by the symbolic-addition procedure with visual X-ray intensities and refined to an R of 12%. The molecules form spirals along c. The parallel spiral chains are held together by van der Waals forces.
