Abstract

The enthalpies of solution of n-Am4NBr, n-Bu4PBr, and Ph4PCl in water at 25 and 35 °C and hence heat capacity change at 30 °C have been determined. The results are discussed in terms of the effects of the solutes on the water structure. The heat capacity change caused by each additional CH2 group in the R4N+ salts is evaluated.
