Abstract

Einstein and Straus have recently considered the influence of the expansion of space on the gravitation fields surrounding the individual stars. The paper has attracted considerable attention, but an interesting new result implicit in their work does not seem to have been noted as yet. The authors consider the cosmological model which, in the usual notation, is where T=T(t), z=1, -1 or 0.
