Abstract

Nuclear magnetic moments of the Iπ = 5/2+ and 7/2+ states of the K = ½ rotational bands in 169Tm and 171Tm have been measured using the perturbed γ angular correlation method. Gamma-ray intensity ratios have been examined in the decay of 171Er, and the mixing amplitude δ(E2/M1) of the 109.8 keV transition in 169Tm has been determined. These and other data are used to determine rotational model parameters as well as transverse and longitudinal effective spin g-factors. Qualitative agreement is found with the theory developed by Bochnacki and Ogaza, however our results are not in quantitative agreement with the theoretical predictions. The possible origin of the discrepancies is discussed.
