Abstract

The process pp → dπ+ near backward angles is studied in terms of N and N* exchanges in a model of N*Nπ couplings developed by the authors. Both the angular and energy distributions of the differential cross-sections are well-reproduced by the model (in marked contrast to the results of contempory approaches), except for a small fluctuation around 2 GeV in the energy distribution in the backward direction.
