Abstract
2-aryl benzoxazoles have been prepared in good yield by the condensation of o-amino phenol with aromatic aldehydes in nitrobenzene medium. Starting from 4-nitro, 4-chloro and 5-nitro o-amino phenols, 5 and 6 substituted 2-aryl benzoxazoles have also been synthesised.
