Abstract
An unambiguous total synthesis of tetrahydrosaussurea lactone using santonin as the starting material has been established. This synthesis confirms the structure and absolute configuration of tetrahydrosaussurea lactone as well as that of saussurea lactone, as previously established from this laboratory.
