Abstract

The IAA oxidase enzyme extracted from Phaseolus mungo hypocotyls appears to show allosteric behaviour with 2 sites, one representing the oxidase (site I) and the other peroxidase (site II). It is considered that the site I is concerned in the production of active IAA oxidation products, while site II merely acts to detoxify the excessive IAA.
