Abstract

The radiometeors observed using a 48.2 MHz forward scatter circuit over a distance of 1760 km during a 12 month period showed a strong diurnal and seasonal variation in the amplitude distribution index S'. This variation in S' is attributed to the variation in absorption in the D-region of the ionosphere. A method is illustrated by which the absorption may be determined. Variations in this absorption with time of day and season are also presented.
