Abstract

Available emulsion data on nuclear interactions produced by neutral and charged secondary particles emitted from jets with a median primary energy of about 5 TeV have been analysed to deduce information on the proportion of kaons and baryon-antibaryons among the created particles. Using a value of 0.15 -0.02 +0.05 for the proportion of baryon-antibaryons (charged and neutral), recently obtained by Tonwaret al., we deduce a value of 0.18 -0.07 +0.05 for the proportion of charged and neutral kaons at primary energies in the region of 5 TeV. Kaons and baryon-antibaryons together constitute 0.33± 0.07 of all created particles. It is shown that the existing experimental information is consistent with these results.
