Abstract

Anabolic and androgenic steroids stimulate the development of the sexual segment of the kidney in male and female Hemidactylus gonadectomised during the period of sexual quiescence. Estrogen or progesterone has no stimulatory effect on the sexual segment in either sex. Androgens cause the stimulation of the oviduct to a secretory state. These results are discussed in relation to the action of gonadal hormones on homologous target sites in the two sexes.
