Abstract

The Mossbauer spectra of sulpho-spinels FeCr2S4 and FeIn2S4 have been studied. FeCr2S4 shows a single line resonance spectrum with an isomer shift of 0.72 mm/sec with respect to stainless steel at 25°C. FeIn2S4 at -194°C has an isomer shift of 0.90 mm/sec and a quadrupole splitting of 3.12 mm/sec which may be attributed to the presence of the trigonal field at the octahedral site in the spinel structure.
