Abstract

The specific-heat exponent a for the d-dimensional ferroelectric five-vertex model is shown to be exactly (3 - d)/2 for d≤3 by using a path integral approach developed for flux lattice melting in high-Tc superconductors. The length scale exponents are v||=1 in one direction and v=1/2 in the remaining (d - 1) directions. The upper critical dimension is 3 but quenched randomness lowers it to 1.5.
