Abstract

An experimental rnethod based on photographic phototnetry is described for demonstrating the existence of anomalous depolarisation, i.e., ρh less than unity, in optical glasses. Microphotometric records are reproduced which clearly show the existence of anomalous depolarisation in optical glasses. Three typical glasses are examined. The experiIllent was repeated with ether as the scattering substance and a negative result was obtained showing thereby that there was no defect in the experimental technique.
