Abstract

Monoorganotin(IV) diorganodithiophosphate derivatives, RSn[SP(S)(OR')2]n Cl3-n (R = CH3, C2H5, n-C4H9 or C6H5, R' = C2H5, n-C3H7, i-C3H7 or C6H5 and n = 1-3), have been synthesised by the reactions of monoorganotin(IV) chlorides with sodium diorganodithiophosphates. An alternative route for the synthesis of the tris-derivatives (n = 3) has been shown to be the interaction between monoorganotin(IV) oxides and diorganodithiophosphoric acids in benzene. The new products have been characterized by elemental analysis, conductivity, refractive index, molecular weight and dipole moment measurements as well as by their electronic, infrared and nuclear magnetic resonance (1H and 31P) spectra.
