Abstract

The reactions of titanium alkoxides (ethoxide, isopropoxide and butoxide) with methyl acetoacetate have been found to yield two types of derivatives-trialkoxy titanium monomethyl acetoacetate and dialkoxy titanium dimethyl acetoacetate; whereas the latter does not react with further amounts of methyl acetoacetate, both have been shown to interchange completely their alkoxide groups with higher alcohols and a number of new products have been isolated. The dialkoxy derivatives distil under reduced pressure with only slight decomposition but the trialkoxy derivatives also disproportionate to give the dialkoxy derivatives.
