Abstract

Novel heteroleptic tetraisopropoxoaluminato-yttrium(III) complexes [{Cl2Y {Al(OPri)4} · 1.5PriOH}2] (I) and [{Y{Al(OPri)4}2(μ-Cl)(PriOH)}2] (II), synthesized by the reaction of YCl3 · 3PriOH with KAl(OPri)4 in 1:1 and 1:2 molar ratios, gave on prolonged evacuation the unsolvated complexes [{Y{Al(OPri)4}(μ-Cl)cl}2] (Ia) and [{Y{Al(OPri)4}2(μ-Cl)}2] (IIa), respectively. Derivatives Ia and IIa have been used as precursors for the synthesis of interesting hetero-(bi- and tri-)metallic isopropoxides of yttrium of the type [L3-xY{Al(OPri)4}x][x = 1 and 2; L = OPri and Zr2(OPri)9]. All the new derivatives have been characterized by elemental analyses, IR, multinuclear (1H, 13C, 27Al and 89Y) NMR spectral studies and ebullioscopic molecular weight measurements.
